It was too electronic for my taste; too little guitars and too much synthesizer. However, as you stated, this does really grow on you. Right now I listen to it daily, can't get enough of it. While it takes a while before you can completely digest it, it's worth it. It's a fresh sound that won't tire you easily. At first I was completely disappointed at this album.
